During this Spring we will start monitoring migratory fish.
They will be captured by electrofishing, and will be marked and released. These marks will be used to observe how do fish move along the different stretches of the river, specially where works have been made to improve river connectivity, that is to say, Ascó’s ramp, the elevator and Xerta’s weir.
Some aerials will be installed in these fluvial areas to register marked fish in order to identify the species and the day. We have received 2.000 pit tags with a 64 bits numerical code, a manual reader to link and read the identification, just as aerials and the injector (pit tag) to insert the mark in the animal ventral cavity will do.
